The internet news reports show a hurricane system aka Hurricane Irene, which is destined for parts of the US, currently circulating the Bahamas area. The last update I saw specified a cat 4 cyclone, which in lay terms is a pretty powerful hurricane to be dealing with (especially out at sea.) Any skipper that knows anything, is most fearing the weather, so I imagine a vigilant approach would be wise when facing such a large system. I'm hoping to check the news tommorow and that no major damage has been done, but from experience, it would be safe to expect at least some minor structural damage minimum. As usual, preparedness is the key, and no doubt panic buying has happened along the way. All in all, good luck to anyone involved in this one.
