Something that has been puzzling me for a while is why i keep hearing that banks in Australia are so strong just now. I've been to Australia and sure the bank buildings look ok, but nothing spectacular strength wise. In fact, a lot of properties over there are pretty much designed to be blown away in a hurricane, check out some of the old queenslander type buildings. The strength is apparently coming from mining, which is even more puzzling, as surely drilling through the earth's crust in such an environment would render the place even more susceptible to collapse.
