So it seems looking at the weather reports over here that the Nelson area is due for some seriously bad weather, mainly thunderstorms and heavy rain, maybe flooding. I was up there not so long ago and it did cross my mind that it may be a flood prone area. NZ weather is just as sensitive as anywhere else in the world at the moment. This country is experiencing untold weather events that are not normal for this side of the world. First, with the devastating Christchurch earthquake that wiped out the television centre, which incidentally contained a training school above it, i'm led to believe, that many people died in this event, including a lot of students and teaching personnel. There are still ongoing aftershocks happening regularly in this area, and I have not been anywhere near to survey the damadge, primarily due to wanting to maintain my own mental health. The weather is pretty gloomy today, with dreary rainfall here. I would not be surprised to read tommorow that flooding has occured in Nelson or in that area generally. Anywhere dry just now is a bonus.
